BTW Over 18
In the great state of California, it is not a requirement that someone over the age of eighteen complete behind the wheel (BTW) training. But we, at Temecula Driving School, still think you should. Cars are dangerous machines and there is not other way to say that.
They’ve become an integral part of our lives and they can be fun to drive, once you know what you’re doing. But cars can also be pretty scary if you’ve never driven one before. For this reason, we offer behind the wheel training to all ages, even if you are legally an adult.
Why You Should Take BTW
We fully understand that if you are eighteen years of age or older, you may think that behind the wheel training is for “kids”, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Getting behind the wheel of a car for the first time is an interesting situation.
The vehicle you’re sitting in is a powerful machine, capable of incredibly fast speeds, which can put you (and the people driving alongside you) in dangerous situations, especially if you aren’t properly trained.
Benefits of BTW Training
The benefits of behind the wheel training are numerous. This type of training will, not only make you familiar with the inside of a vehicle, it will also make you familiar with the road and other motorists.
Behind the wheel training gives you real world driving experience, teaching you all manner of things, such as: proper gas and breaking techniques, when to check your mirrors, how to look in your blind spots, how to safely stay in the middle of your lane, when to signal and a bunch of other things that are easier to show, than explain on paper.
Passing the Drivers Test
The biggest benefit of taking behind the wheel training is that this course is specifically designed to, not only help you learn about the car you are driving and road you are driving on, but to help you pass the driving portion of the DMV test. In California, it is a requirement that any new driver, regardless of age, pass the driving portion of the DMV test before they can get their very first license. This test isn’t meant to trick you or trip you up, but there are portions of it which can be difficult if you aren’t familiar with driving.
Heavy Traffic Training
Another huge benefit to behind the wheel training, specifically here, in California, is getting familiar with heavy traffic. Unlike most other states, California roadways are consistently busy and overcrowded.
In this state, drivers are aggressive and pull maneuvers that, even the most experienced driver, may not be used to seeing. Because of this, if you are feeling stressed out to drive in California, on our highways or streets, we recommend taking a refresher course, just to get you up to speed.
We are happy to take you out and guide you through exactly what it takes to stay safe, as a driver, in California.
